Since its inception in 2017, 7 Brew has rapidly ascended the ranks of the quick-service restaurant industry, transforming the landscape of beverage retail with its innovative drive-thru model. The brand, known for offering an astonishing array of over 20,000 possible drink combinations spanning coffees, energy drinks, smoothies, and more, is experiencing a meteoric rise. Primarily operating under a franchised model, 7 Brew boasts a substantial footprint with more than 800 stands strategically located across 38 states. Projections indicate the chain is on track to surpass the significant milestone of 1,000 units by the end of the current year, solidifying its status as the fastest-growing brand in the United States, according to a recent Yelp report. This remarkable expansion occurs against a backdrop of robust performance from key competitors, such as Dutch Bros, which reported an impressive 8.3% increase in same-store sales in the second quarter of 2026, highlighting a dynamic and competitive drive-thru beverage market. Indeed, 7 Brew and its rivals are actively engaged in a multi-faceted competition, vying for market share and consumer loyalty.
In a strategic move to further fuel its aggressive growth trajectory, 7 Brew unveiled its inaugural mobile application in August. This digital initiative is designed to streamline the customer experience, enhance the brand’s loyalty program, and empower consumers with the convenience of ordering ahead. The app’s launch proved to be an immediate success, swiftly climbing to the number one position on the iOS App Store and maintaining a strong presence within the top five applications as of press time, signaling a significant adoption rate among its customer base.
The introduction of the mobile app was accompanied by a compelling promotional campaign. Loyalty members were offered an enticing opportunity to win 100,000 points, a substantial incentive designed to drive app downloads and engagement. Complementing this, 7 Brew leveraged the power of social media, particularly TikTok, to generate buzz. A creative video, parodizing the iconic film "2001: A Space Odyssey," reimagined the film’s legendary monolith as a giant smartphone, cleverly linking the cinematic narrative to the app’s technological significance. This engaging content strategy is a continuation of 7 Brew’s established approach to connecting with its audience on platforms like TikTok, where the brand has cultivated a substantial following of over 685,000 users and garnered 7.5 million likes. Previous marketing efforts have included similar parodies of popular culture, such as "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom" and "Mean Girls," demonstrating a consistent commitment to creating relatable and shareable content.
The strategic pivot towards social media engagement and innovative digital tools is spearheaded by Nick Chavez, who joined 7 Brew in late 2024 as its first Chief Marketing Officer. Chavez brings a wealth of experience to his role, having previously served as the U.S. CMO for KFC for three years, and earlier in his career, held various marketing positions at industry giants like Nintendo and Yahoo. His appointment marks a pivotal moment for 7 Brew, signaling a dedicated focus on maturing its marketing infrastructure and expanding its brand reach.
A Transformative Role: Charting the Course for 7 Brew’s Marketing Future
Reflecting on his tenure at 7 Brew thus far, Chavez described it as a "remarkable period of growth and development," emphasizing the brand’s expanding presence in diverse communities across the nation. It was this palpable potential and the brand’s inherent momentum that initially attracted him to the organization. In an exclusive interview with Marketing Dive, Chavez elaborated on his approach to the CMO role, the strategic importance of the new loyalty program, and his forward-looking plans for the beverage chain.
"First and foremost, there was tremendous existing talent at 7 Brew," Chavez stated, highlighting the company’s proactive investment in its internal marketing capabilities. "The brand had invested early in social media presence, content creators, and social media managers, so we have a great in-house team of creative content producers. I had been aware of the brand before coming in, in part due to its social media presence: It’s a hot brand on TikTok and Instagram." He further articulated his vision, emphasizing a desire to build upon this existing foundation. "Coming in as a new CMO, I wanted to lean into that momentum, recognize the talent that was already in these walls, continue to engage with positive fan sentiment and fan communities that were already built up around 7 Brew. For lack of a better expression, I didn’t want to screw that up."
Building a World-Class Marketing Organization
Chavez detailed the ongoing efforts to cultivate a "world-class marketing organization" at 7 Brew, driven by the ambitious vision to establish it as "one of the world’s greatest beverage brands." This involves a dual strategy of significant investment in in-house talent and sophisticated marketing tools, alongside strategic partnerships with leading external agencies.
"We are continuing to build out a world-class marketing organization at 7 Brew," Chavez affirmed. "We think we can build and develop one of the world’s greatest beverage brands, so we are investing heavily in in-house talent and in-house marketing sophistication, from a tool kit standpoint. We are beginning to partner more and more with the best agencies in the business to continue to drive brand, sales, and traffic growth, as well."
To execute this strategy, 7 Brew has appointed Amp as its media agency of record, entrusting them with a data-driven approach to paid media, with a particular focus on digital and social channels. Additionally, the company collaborates with various agencies and platforms for content and influencer marketing initiatives on social media. Chavez also indicated a growing trend of partnering with individual creative agencies on a project basis to augment in-house capabilities.

Acknowledging the competitive landscape, Chavez provided a candid assessment of 7 Brew’s current standing. "Our competitors in the space have 10-times, sometimes 100-times the budgets we have at this point. We’re still a small brand that’s growing very quickly, but we’ll be ready to compete. We’ll be ready to play with the big boys and girls when the time comes." This statement underscores a confident outlook, positioning 7 Brew for future dominance despite current resource disparities.
Social-First Marketing: Amplifying Brand Joy and Connection
7 Brew’s marketing philosophy is deeply rooted in its exceptional customer experience, a fact underscored by its top-tier ratings. According to Technomic data, the brand has been recognized as number one in overall consumer ratings among all QSR brands in the United States, a distinction that Chavez and his team are committed to preserving and enhancing. Furthermore, 7 Brew holds the top position in likelihood to recommend among coffee cafe brands nationwide.
"We take great pride in two facts about the brand, as measured by Technomic," Chavez explained. "The first is that the brand has been rated as number one in overall consumer rating of any QSR brand in the United States; that’s something we want to protect and continue to grow and lean into. The second is that we’re also number one in likelihood to recommend among coffee cafe brands in the United States." This strong advocacy from its customer base forms the bedrock of 7 Brew’s marketing efforts.
"A lot of what we do from a marketing perspective is actually leaning into that buzz and the positivity, the joy, and the kindness of the experience that encourages customers to tell their friends, family, and loved ones about 7 Brew," Chavez continued. Tangible elements of this strategy include branded merchandise. "The stickers that we pass out or the car coasters that we give away, a lot of that is intentionally designed to thank our customers for their loyalty and for their visit, but also to encourage them to spread the word about 7 Brew, so we lean into things that are worth talking about." This approach emphasizes organic word-of-mouth marketing, amplified by thoughtful customer touchpoints.
The 7 Brew App: Enhancing Discovery and Loyalty
The newly launched mobile application addresses a critical consumer need, particularly for those navigating the brand’s extensive menu. With over 20,000 possible flavor combinations, the sheer variety can be daunting for new customers. The app serves as a sophisticated discovery tool, simplifying menu exploration and enabling personalized beverage creation.
"Our fans have embraced the app, and the app’s incredibly useful in that it’s designed to improve the order-ahead process and the menu discovery process," Chavez elaborated. "One thing that we’ve heard from our guests – maybe for newer guests and newer customers – is that with over 20,000 possible flavor combinations across different categories of beverages, the menu can be a little bit intimidating. The app is there to enable new customers to discover drinks that they might love."
Simultaneously, the app caters to the brand’s loyal following. "But then, equally so, existing 7 Brew customers, fans, and followers can customize their drinks on the app, and we’re already seeing that our fans and followers are building, customizing, and discovering new drinks and new possibilities from 7 Brew via the app. They can then save and share those drink discoveries with their friends. The app is really social by design, tying back to the menu and to drink discovery." This social integration further reinforces the brand’s community-centric marketing ethos.
The app also significantly enhances the 7 Rewards loyalty program. For existing members who have expressed a desire for a more straightforward way to track their progress towards free drinks, the app provides a seamless solution. The core of the 7 Rewards program remains consistent: customers earn 100 points for every drink purchased, with 1,000 points unlocking a free beverage of any size. The app introduces enhanced functionality, allowing users to bank their accumulated points beyond the redemption threshold. This offers greater flexibility, enabling customers to choose between redeeming points for free drinks or for exclusive 7 Brew merchandise, ranging from branded cornhole sets to mini-fridges. This expanded reward structure not only incentivizes continued engagement but also deepens the emotional connection between the brand and its most dedicated customers.
The strategic integration of a user-friendly mobile app, coupled with a vibrant and engaging social media presence, positions 7 Brew for continued dominance in the rapidly evolving beverage market. As the brand continues its aggressive expansion, its focus on customer experience, community building, and innovative marketing strategies suggests a future where it will not only compete but lead in the drive-thru beverage sector. The company’s commitment to listening to customer feedback and adapting its offerings, as evidenced by the app’s development, is a key indicator of its sustained success and its ability to connect with a broad and diverse consumer base.
